Odesa Port Expands International Cooperation: Memorandum Signed with the Port of Rotterdam

On March 30, a two-day Dutch–Ukrainian intergovernmental conference took place in the city of Breda (the Netherlands). The event was jointly organized by the Governments of Ukraine and the Kingdom of the Netherlands to strengthen political and economic cooperation between the two countries.

As part of the event, a business forum was held during which the Odesa branch of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Port of Rotterdam (the Netherlands), Europe’s largest port. This marks another important step in the development of Ukrainian ports and their integration into the global logistics system.

The document was signed by Dmytro Nazarenko, CEO of the Odesa Branch of the SE “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority”, and representatives of the Dutch side — Harbour Master of the Port of Rotterdam – René de Vries and Legal Manager Joep Vermeulen.

The Memorandum opens up new opportunities for knowledge exchange and the implementation of joint projects.

- Signing this Memorandum is not merely a formality, but a tangible step toward developing the Port of Odesa in line with the best European standards. We highly value the experience of the Port of Rotterdam, one of the world’s leading ports. We expect that this cooperation will help introduce modern technologies and improve the efficiency of our port’s operations, even under the challenging conditions of today,- said Dmytro Nazarenko.

The parties paid particular attention to modern solutions for the port industry, including the implementation of digital technologies, the use of artificial intelligence in logistics, and enhancing port management efficiency.

A separate area of cooperation has been defined as the restoration of Odesa’s port infrastructure and support for Ukraine’s maritime sector.
