Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine Visited the Port of Odesa

As part of their visit to Odesa, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine visited the Passenger Terminal Complex of the Port of Odesa and held a meeting with the management of the Odesa Branch of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority”.

Mr. Robert Dresen, Head of Ukraine Division, Europe Department of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with Mr. Robertus Dekker, Head of Political Department, familiarized themselves with the operations of the Port of Odesa under martial law conditions. During the meeting, the parties also discussed the current needs of the Port of Odesa, as well as prospects and areas for further cooperation between Ukraine and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the port sector.

The guests were presented with an overview of the operation of the Ukrainian maritime corridor and were informed about the measures taken to ensure the resilience of port infrastructure amid ongoing challenges. The representatives of the Port of Odesa also expressed their gratitude to European partners for their solidarity and practical support for Ukraine during this difficult period for the country.

It should be recalled that on 30 March, within the framework of the Netherlands–Ukraine Intergovernmental Conference, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Odesa Branch of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” and the Port of Rotterdam, the largest port in Europe. As part of the implementation of the agreements reached, the Ukrainian side has already received its first package of technical assistance, including energy equipment intended to support the uninterrupted operation of port infrastructure.
