We are celebrating 231 years!
Today we celebrate a special occasion - the 231st anniversary of the official founding of the Port of Odesa. It was from the port that the history of our city began. Since then, their destinies have been inseparable: without the port, there would be no Odesa, and without Odesa, there would be no such a powerful and unique port. It is no surprise that the lives of nearly all Odesa residents are in one way or another connected with the port.
For the people of the port, September 2 is not just a date on the calendar. It is the legacy of generations who, through their work, talent, and dedication, built and strengthened the main maritime gateway of Ukraine.
Throughout its existence, the port has become not only the heart of the city but also a source of national pride. It is an important commercial and economic centre, and the stability of the country’s economy largely depends on its operations. But its greatest wealth has always been its people - the port workers whose professionalism and daily efforts sustain the life, development, and international reputation of the enterprise.
I am grateful to each of you for your everyday work, for your faith in the future, and for carrying forward the tradition that began many years ago.
Today, we are doing everything possible to ensure that our port continues to grow, prosper, and hold an honourable place among the leading ports of the world - and that everyone working here feels respected and has decent living and working conditions.
Together, we will preserve and strengthen the glory of the Port of Odesa - a symbol of reliability and national pride.
